I'm Piet Broenland

certified healthcare professional

Through my broad knowledge of care and specifically about the disease addiction I am able to offer help to all those who, like me years ago, are stuck in themselves. Those who have the feeling of wanting to change but also the feeling of not being able to change. I also had this experience and I got out of this thanks to help from others. By looking at myself honestly and thoroughly, I have changed into the person I am today. I am enthusiastic, empathetic, driven and involved.

Ikigai Counseling offers help with:

Alcohol addiction

Cannabis addiction

Gambling addiction

Nicotine addiction

Addiction is a destructive disease, which harms both the individual and the family and environment. The disease manifests itself both physically, mentally and spiritually and is chronic and progressive. Addiction is a chronic brain disease that can affect anyone. It is a disease that cannot be cured by willpower alone. Addicts should therefore not be seen as weak people who are not strong enough to stop their substance abuse.

Addiction is not a moral failing. It is a vulnerability that anyone, with the right personal treatment, can recover from. Ikigai counseling is committed to this message on a daily basis by offering individual counseling courses for people who are struggling with a resource dependence and by giving information , presentations and training to schools, mental health institutions, municipalities, prisons and/or ex-prisoners.

Ikigai counseling focuses in all its activities on the recovery of these life-disrupting problems. We offer various forms of help around addiction. Some examples of this are: individual counseling sessions, giving presentations and information to different target groups and providing after-care trajectories after detox and/or clinical admission. Ikigai counselling also engages in the use of experiential expertise with regard to visions, missions and protocols on topics such as stigmas, addiction, detention, recovery support, client treatment and protocols. Ikigai counseling has (inter) national contacts with professional addiction clinics and can refer directly without waiting lists.

Through treatment and counseling you increase the chance of your recovery.

What does Ikigai mean?

Ikigai is a Japanese philosophical and cultural tradition that can be applied in everyday life. According to the Japanese, everyone has an Ikigai, a reason to be. It is very important to start and continue the search for yourself. It is that drive that keeps people going, despite setbacks and difficulties; simply because they feel that what they are doing is their calling. Ikigai consists of four elements, namely what you love to do, what you think the world needs, what you are good at and what you can be paid for.

The center of these 4 elements is your Ikigai. In your Ikigai everything comes together that makes you happy deep down. Ikigai, The reason to get out of bed full of motivation every day and fulfill your passion, is for me the most powerful tool I have been able to find, in addition to participating in a self-help program, to live a clean, fun, fulfilled and successful life. The ability to help others break through their destructive behavior and/or addiction issues and help destigmatize addiction through the use of my own experiences and my professional knowledge, that is my Ikigai.
